You Don’t Need a Diet. You Need Three Ideas.

Forget good foods and bad foods for a minute. Eating well is simpler than the internet makes it look.

If thinking about food makes you tired or guilty, you’re not broken and you’re not lazy. You’ve just been handed a hundred rules that argue with each other. Let’s throw them out and keep three.

Idea 1 — Food is fuel, not a test you pass or fail

There is no food that ruins you and no food that saves you. A cookie is not a moral failure. A salad is not a gold star. Your body runs on the total of what you eat over weeks, not on any single meal. That means one pizza can’t undo you — and one salad can’t fix everything either.

Idea 2 — Protein is the one thing most people miss

Protein is the stuff your body uses to build and repair muscle, skin, hair, and more. It also keeps you full longer than chips or soda. Most people eat plenty of bread and snacks but not much protein. An easy fix: put a protein on your plate every time you eat — eggs, chicken, fish, beans, Greek yogurt, tofu.

Myth

Carbs make you fat.

Reality

Eating more food than your body uses makes you gain weight — that can be carbs, fat, or anything. Carbs themselves are just energy.

Idea 3 — Fill half your plate with plants

Vegetables and fruit add fiber and water, so they fill you up without much energy. You don’t have to love kale. Pick the vegetables you can stand and eat more of those. Frozen counts. Canned counts.

If you only remember one thing

Each meal: a palm of protein, half a plate of plants, and the rest is up to you. That’s it. You can start today, with the food already in your kitchen.
